About the event
How we use our voice impacts all areas of our life and work. While research shows the wellbeing impact singing can have on individuals, it’s our non-singing voices we use on an everyday basis. This series of experiential workshops will put you in touch with your own unique musical instrument, and show you how to use it to the healthiest and fullest.
Using Your Voice is for singers, teachers, lawyers, doctors, therapists - anyone using their voice a lot on a daily basis. Find out how to take the best care of your voice, use it without straining it, and gain the confidence to pitch and project to the fullest with your very own vocal cords!
As well as a music therapist, workshop leader Marianne Rizkallah is a professional singer and vocal coach, trained in safe vocal usage and healthy singing technique. With methods from music therapy and singing pedagogy, Using Your Voice includes:
- Warm-ups for the voice, which you can use every day
- How to Breathe like a Singer
- Healthy Voice Placement
- Exercises and games using speaking and singing in unconventional ways
- An improvisational session to bring together all the skills learnt
What other participants have said:
"I wanted to say thank you. You have thrown my mind back into why I enjoy my voice. I've begun to appreciate again the process of being a musician and the end result - and I'm really rather happy about that!"
"What stands Marianne apart is her creative, holistic approach towards vocalising. As well as showing me how to exercise and develop my physical attributes, she explores the psychological aspects and is generally interested in why people want to sing."
