About the event
This free webinar is for Case Managers, service providers and organisations supporting patients who have experienced stroke, Acquired Brain Injury or neurological impairment. Find out how music - both making music and active listening - can improve recovery, mental health and quality of life in patients and how it can support staff.
Two of North London Music Therapy's HCPC-registered music therapists will take you through a practical series of strategies to help you help your patients integrate music into their everyday, improving mental health and wellbeing. We'll also think together how we can support staff mental health and wellbeing. Find out:
- What music therapy is
- How music helps patients who have experienced stroke, Acquired Brain Injury or neurological impairment
- What music therapy looks and sounds like, with examples from sessions
- The latest evidence for music therapy, and support from NLMT's own data as part of our flagship pilot project
- How to access music therapy for your patients
Based in North London, NLMT works across London using music as part of therapy for those undergoing neurological rehabilitation and who may also be experiencing stress, anxiety or depression. We set up new remote music therapy services during the pandemic, training others in how to carry out this work. Our Phone Support Service, offering acute support for NHS key workers during lockdown, was nominated for an Advancing Health ESTEEM Award for the speed and quality of our service.
